Hej,

Såg att Whiskybase har startat med sin egen marketsida.

Vad tror ni om detta?

Någon som tänker lägga bud och testa?

Step 1: Check the reviews and shipping information of the seller

Find out who is offering the whisky you are interested in and check the shipping information for this seller. If you think the shipping costs are too high, do not buy whisky from this seller. Also check the reviews for this seller to decide if you want to buy from him or her.

Step 2: Buying the whisky

There are two methods of buying whisky on the Marketplace:

a. by auction

b. at a fixed price

a. buying whisky on auction

Whisky that is offered on auction has this auction hammer icon hamer.png behind its name. Also a button Bid is available. The seller has set a minimum price and Whiskybase users may bid on the whisky. The seller has also set an end date for the auction. After the auction has ended, the user with the highest bid is expected to buy the whisky.

Click on the desired whisky in the Marketplace. The whisky page opens and on the right hand side of the page there is an auction block. In this block is the most recent bid is displayed as well as the end date for the auction. You can bid by entering the desired price and clicking on Bid! You can also bid anonymously so no one will see that you have placed a bid on this whisky.

On the page My Marketplace - Bids you can track how the auctions are going. On this page all bidding of the whisky you have placed a bid on are displayed. If someone outbids you, you will be notified. The auction does not always close on the stated time. After the last bid 5 minutes are left for everyone to make a new bid. This gives everybody time to bid on the whisky. The auction ends if no one has made a bid for 5 minutes after the last bid.

The auction's winner has to complete the order. The winner will receive a request to pay the whisky. This whisky will have the status Need Payment on the Dashboard page, which is shown by a number. When the winner clicks on this number the order page will open, notifying that the whisky needs to be paid for.

Winner has 3 days to pay for the whisky. If you do not pay on time, you may receive a Bid & Run. A Bid & Run is a negative evaluation the seller may give to someone who wins an auction but does not pay. A seller can deny potential buyers with one or more Bid & Runs access to their auctions.
If delay paying, you may also receive a negative rating by the seller. The seller will rate buyers on three aspects: quickness of payment; sticking to the agreement and solving problems. Make sure you pay promptly.

b. buying whisky for a fixed price

Whiskies can also be offered on the Marketplace for a fixed price. These whiskies do not have an auction hammer behind their name and a button View is available. If you want to buy the whisky then click on the whisky or the button. The whisky page will appear with the block Buy Whisky on the right hand side of the page. Click on Add to Cart to add the whisky to your shopping cart. The whisky will be reserved for you to buy for 10 minutes. A timer displays the remaining time. After 10 minutes other Whiskybase users will also be able to buy the whisky.

When you want to finalise the purchase, you check the box accepting the terms of both Whiskybase and the seller. Then you click on Place order. A Paypal page will be opened.

Step 3: Paying

Paying will go as follows:
- You are redirected to the Paypal payment page.
- On this page the total amount of the purchase is displayed (price of the whisky and shipping costs).
- You log on to your Paypal account with your e-mail address and password.
- You check if the total amount is correct and click on
Pay.
- You are redirected back to the Marketplace and see a thank you page with the order number.

The transaction costs for Paypal will be paid for by Whiskybase.

Step 4: The whisky is delivered

After the payment has been done the seller will receive message that the whisky can be packed up and sent. After the seller has done that, the whisky will get the status In transit on the Dashboard.

When the shipping company delivers the parcel, make sure it was not damaged during transport. Usually you will not be allowed to open the parcel before accepting, but a wet parcel and whisky smell wil tell tales. If you think the bottle was broken during transport, do not accept the parcel. Then it will be clear that you did not cause the damage to the bottle and usually there will be no extra costs for returning the parcel.

Thankfully, most of the time transport will be succesfull and you can accept the parcel. After you opened the parcel you will check the whisky and accompanying packaging for damages. If you are sure the whisky has arrived in proper order, you will go to the order page and click on the button The package has arrived and I accept the order.

If you want to cancel the purchase, use the button The package has arrived, but I want to cancel the order. Information on cancelling the order can be found on the page The order is cancelled.

Step 5: Reviewing the seller

After you accepted or cancelled the order, you will review the seller. Give a serious and well-considered review. The seller will get a higher rating on the Marketplace after receiving many positive reviews. Are the reviews mostly negative, other buyers may not want to buy from this seller.

You will review the seller on the following aspects:
- State of the whisky: in what state did the bottle and accompanying packaging arrive? Did you receive what was agreed upon?
- The packaging: how was everything packed up for transport?
- Speed of delivery: the seller cannot influence the shipping of course. Here you review the amount of time the seller took to ship the whisky. If, for example, the seller did not ship the whisky for a week after he received payment, he will receive a low score on this aspect.
- Problem solving: if there have been problems, how did the seller solve them?
- Keeping appointments: did the seller keep the appointments that were made during the transaction?

After you have reviewed the seller, there is only one thing left to do: add the new bottle to your Whiskybase collection!
